Why Is My Mouse Polling Rate Low?

A low browser estimate is not automatically a hardware fault: movement, browser scheduling, power settings, and the connection path all matter.

Get a stable comparison first

Use the Mouse Polling Rate Test with continuous medium-speed movement for 10 to 15 seconds. Compare averages from two or three similar runs, not an isolated peak.

Check the configured rate and connection

Confirm the selected rate in the manufacturer’s official software. Connect directly to the computer where possible, close heavy background work, and test a charged wireless mouse with its receiver nearby. A Bluetooth connection can behave differently from a dedicated receiver.

Interpret the estimate carefully

The page measures when pointer events arrive in the browser rather than electrical reports from the sensor. If the estimate changes sharply after one controlled setting change, that trend is useful; if not, test another browser and computer before concluding the device is faulty.
